HONORING HEROES OF THE MODERN-DAY ANTI-SLAVERY MOVEMENT
THE FREEDOM PRIZES is a hip celebration. Part civil rights gathering, part music-filled revival meeting. Building on the tradition of The Freedom Awards, Free The Slaves co-founder and creator of The Freedom Awards, Peggy Callahan, and Freedom Awards co-chair, Bryn Freedman, produce THE FREEDOM PRIZES.
HONORING SURVIVORS, ACTIVISTS, LEADERS & HEROES
Imagine meeting the Fredrick Douglasses, Harriet Tubmans, and Wilbur Wilberforces of our time!
EXPECT TO BE UPLIFTED
The Freedom Prizes will be presented by great moral authorities and high profile celebrities dedicated to freedom. At the 2008 Freedom Awards, Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu presented an award to a former slave who once couldn’t even dream of freedom. In 2009, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher honored a former sex slave from Cambodia, who now walks back into her worst nightmare to save other women. In 2010, Jason Mraz performed the “Freedom Song,” a song he had sung with former child slaves in Ghana.
The Freedom Prizes will be powerful and inspirational, with musical performances and courageous personal stories from the frontlines of the anti-slavery movement. The Freedom Prizes bring together well-respected dignitaries and scholars, business leaders, high-profile celebrity actors, musicians and artists, and these freedom lovers from around the globe turn the spotlight on little known heroes.
